On October 21st 2009 the Pacific Northwest Section of the PGA inducted Bill Rosholt, PGA into the Pacific Northwest Section Hall of Fame at their annual meeting in Portland Oregon. The PNWPGA with it's approximately 1200 members and apprentices was founded in 1922 and includes Washington, Oregon, North Idaho, Western Montana and Alaska. The Hall of Fame which was established in 1981 now has 47 members.

The PNWPGA established the Hall of Fame for the purpose of honoring and perpetuating the memory of those persons who have distinguished themselves by their contribution to the Pacific Northwest Section and the game of golf.

To commemerate the induction the PNWPGA is hosting a reception on Saturday November 21st from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the new bus terminal at 2204 E Penn in La Grande Oregon.

People who are interested in attending are asked to RSVP str@eoni.com or call 541-963-5354 if possible.

Rocky:
I apologise for not responding sooner to your posting but it just showed up on my blog screen.

As we both know the game is at least 80-85% mental and visualistion is a huge part of that process. But by being too focused on a specific spot many times it leads golfers to "steering" the golf swing. When you steer shots too often you don't get the clubface back squared, thus mis-directed golf shots. Stay with it, and try not to think when swinging the club and try not to be obsessed with the target.

Grande Ronde Amateur

The Grande Ronde Amateur is a very good golf tournament, that was started 15 years ago to benefit the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation. The Foundation Staff works very hard to make this a quality event. The tee gift this year is a Slazenger 3/4 length sleeved full zip windshirt that has a retail value of $100.00. Participants also receive a dinner ticket worth $25.00 and a complimentary lunch on Saturday. With ninety entries there is a $5000.00 tournament purse!

This 36 hole stroke play event that is open to both men and women comes to Buffalo Peak for the 1st time in the history of the tournament. There are two very practical reasons why the tournament moved from La Grande Country Club. 1st: With 18 holes available at Buffalo Peak the golf tournament has an opportunity to grow and 2nd, Buffalo Peak was able to provide an eariler date on the golf calendar. (Something the tournament committee has hoped for for years)

With all that said, my experience tells me that if this event this year is not successful the Foundation Board may pull the plug and direct their staff to look at other ways to do there fundraising... in my humble opinion that would be a devastating blow to the golf community and to tournament golf in Union County. You see it takes time for a tournament to build a reputation and this one has a great one. To lose that not only effects the golfers and the golf course but the entire county is a loser because of the economic benefits the golfers provide.

So I say to you, if you have played in the Grande Ronde Amateur in the past and for whatever reason you are thinking of not playing this year, please reconsider... and if you haven't played in the past please consider playing this year...
We need to look at the big picture and support one of the biggest employers of Union County and help the economic stability of the area.

Buffalo Peak golf course is in great shape and is excited to host the Grande Ronde Amateur on August 29th and 30th.

You will have a positive experience in playing the AMATEUR at the PEAK! Please enter today!
